Yesterday was one of those unbelievable days for Kimi Rakkionen and Ferrari fans. Just a couple of races ago it seemed nothing would stop Hamilton from becoming the youngest world champions .... and here we are ... Kimi who had a very slim chance is the champ!
If we look back at how the season panned out for Kimi, the season start was quite ordinary, he started getting some kind of foot hold during the mid season and towards the end Kimi was just unbeatable.
Some might say that Kimi won because of Hamilton's bad luck, I do agree that luck played a part ...but Kimi has had his share of bad luck as well, if we go back to the start of the season Kimi was driving an unreliable car compared to Hamilton and Alonso. In a season things can change those who can learn and adapt can come out of difficult situations and achieve greater things, Ferrari did just that ... When the car wasn't performing Kimi and his teammate Massa never complained they just went about their job. They believed in their team and played their part as good team members.
McLaren probably lost the race because they did not work as a team that well, that may have contributed to losing their edge to Ferrari, some of their bandwidth might have been consumed by the clashes between Alonso and Hamilton, if they had worked well together them might have put some more effort to improve their cars instead they wasted it by squabbling about each other.
I believe there are couple of things we can learn from this F1 season. First one, we cannot do things on our own, our success depends on direct & indirect contributions made by people who we work with, people might say Kimi is the world champion, but we should not forget that behind him is a loyal world champion team who work for him behind the scenes without any direct credit. Second one, this is something we have heard quite a bit but something we take lightly because we hear it so many times, i.e., just give your best and have fun, forget about the results if you are doing it right success will not elude you for long.
